Led by founder Dr. Chan, Sinocap’s executives have diverse backgrounds. They combine a deep knowledge of China with international experience gained at some of the world’s leading financial institutions. We come together because we share the same belief, yet make our own unique contribution. Jointly, we form a stable team to face the future.

Key members of the team

Dr. Chan Chak Shing, Chairman (Honorary Doctorate)
Sinocap founder, Dr. Chan has over 20 years investment experience and extensive, established relationships across China.

Dr. Chan is:

  • A member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)
  • Vice President of the China Children and Teenager’s Fund
  • A fellow of the China Association for International Friendly Contact
  • A fellow of the China Overseas Friendship Association
  • Consultant to the China Dancers Association
  • Financial consultant to the Nanjing Municipal Government, Jiangsu Province
  • A Director of the Premium Fund of Management of Fudan University, one of China's top universities
  • Director of Liutianhua & A Bing China Folk Music Foundation
  • Director, Honorary Professor of the China University of Political Science and Law – the leading law school in China
  • Honorary Professor of the Communication University of China
Dr. Chan has been honoured with the ‘China Charity Award’, and has been recognized as a ‘PRC Children Philanthropist’. In 2010 Dr. Chan was granted the ‘World Outstanding Chinese Award’.

Dr. Chan has a healthy and balanced attitude towards life, and enjoys keeping active, writing poems, and watching dance shows.
Mr. Piers Buck, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Buck is responsible for all the firm's day-to-day activities including deal sourcing and execution, management of portfolio companies and strategic initiatives.

Prior to Sinocap, Mr. Buck had over ten years of experience in a number of leading investment banks, including Citigroup, Macquarie Bank and Investec. He has worked on a wide range of investment, M&A and IPO transactions in Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and London.

Mr. Buck graduated from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) with a degree in Management with French. He is also a CFA Charterholder. He speaks French and Spanish, has lived in nine countries across four continents and has dual United Kingdom-Australian citizenship.

He has a passion for the outdoors, having successfully summited a number of the world's most challenging mountains including Mt Everest, Mt Cho Oyu (6th highest in the world) and Mt Cook. For each of these climbs he raised significant funds for charity, including the Australia Himalayan Foundation, the Bionic Ear Institute, and the Smith Family.
Mr. Li Hok Wing, Executive Director
Mr. Li has over 25 years’ experience in business law, corporate restructuring and corporate listing. Prior to joining Sinocap, Mr. Li has held a number of senior executive positions in public companies and was the Head of Enterprise Office in a provincial government in China.

Since Mr. Li joined Nouveau Investment Group in 1993, he has been the Executive Director of several onshore and offshore listed companies held by the Group.

Mr. Li graduated from the China University of Geosciences, and also has a BA in Law from Shanghai Fudan University, ranked No. 1 in Shanghai and top 5 in China.
Mr. Ronald Yu, Director
Mr. Yu has over 15 years of experience in Finance and Portfolio Management. Prior to joining Sinocap, Mr. Yu worked at the U.S. private investment firm as an Associate Director and lastly as Chief Financial Officer for one of their portfolio companies. Previous to this, he worked as a Vice President at Citigroup in their Asia Pacific Operations Division, responsible for Operational Risk Management. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers and worked in numerous departments, lastly as a Senior Manager in Assurance Practice.

Mr. Yu graduated from Griffith University and holds a Master of Professional Accounting from University of Queensland. Mr. Yu is a fellow member of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.
Ms. Taslim Ho, Vice President
Prior to joining Sinocap, Ms. Ho has worked in a number of international financial institutions, including Credit Suisse, Macquarie Bank and Ernst & Young. She focused on investment banking and project finance. 

Ms. Ho graduated with a MSc in Finance from Imperial College, London.
Mr. Chan Hon Shu, Assistant to the Chairman
Mr. Chan works in Sinocap as the Assistant to the Chairman where he focuses on deal execution, portfolio monitoring and relationship management.

Prior to Sinocap, Hon Shu worked at Credit Suisse (HK) in their investment banking division, where he was responsible for providing corporate finance advice in relation to equity capital market, debt capital market and M&A.

Mr. Chan has a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Oxford, UK. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
